The Wichita Falls community prides itself on offering quality education to its residents. With an emphasis on Modern School Facilities and a MakerHub Network outlined in our Strategic Plan, our community is continuously making improvements to our infrastructure and programming to ensure our students have access to high quality, cutting-edge resources to supplement their education.

Wichita Falls is home to three colleges, numerous public and private elementary, middle and high schools and other additional resources to help our students achieve their educational goals.

With the creation of the Career Education Center, we have created a new system that allows all students at WFISD the opportunity to try new career interest. We have increased our programs and the opportunities for practicum/clinical experiences for most of our classes as well as certifications that the workforce needs.

Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD)

The District operates four early childhood campuses, 16 elementary campuses, three middle school campuses, three high schools, and three alternative campuses. WFISD is the largest public-school district of the 38 located in North Texas and is the largest school district operating in Region 9. This district is accredited by the Texas Education Agency.

Midwestern State University is a leading medium-sized public liberal arts university committed to providing students with rigorous undergraduate and graduate education in liberal arts, science, engineering, and business. Through an emphasis on teaching using research, creative activities and co-curricular opportunities alongside faculty, Midwestern State prepares its graduates to embark upon their careers or pursue advanced study.

Career Education Center (CEC):

The WFISD Career Education Center serves the North Texas community of Wichita Falls as a state-of-the-art facility completed in 2017. Here, students are trained in one of 26 career pathways. Each provides students with a multitude of post-graduation opportunities including the possibility of earning a certification concurrently.

Vernon College:

Vernon College is an accredited, comprehensive community college offering academic, career and technical education programs, as well as community classes to prepare students for employment or for successful transfer to a four-year college or university. There are three locations in Wichita Falls; The Skills Training Center and Century City Center which both house career and technical education training programs, and the Sheppard Learning Center which supports airmen on Sheppard Air Force base.

Wayland Baptist University:

Wayland’s Wichita Falls campus offers a wide range of quality academic programs, taught in small classes in a caring, Christian environment for airmen at Sheppard Air Force Base. Wayland Baptist University was among the first institutions in the country to consider the needs of men and women serving in the United States armed services and offer degree programs in compliance with military education benefits.

CrashWorks STEAM Studio & Makerspace:

The vision at CrashWorks STEAM Studio & Makerspace is to redefine what education looks like through STEAM initiatives. They offer hands-on, creative exploration to learners of all ages through process-based education. Unlike other creative studios in the area, they focus on “fostering imagination, inspiration, curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving.”

Dexter is a revolutionary new high-tech community school located in Wichita Falls, TX. Instead of sitting in a traditional classroom, students follow a personalized learning path at their own accelerated pace in a modern learning environment. Notre Dame Catholic School:

Notre Dame Catholic School is private catholic school composed of an elementary campus for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and a middle/high campus for sixth through twelfth grade and boasts an average class size of 14 students. Notre Dame Catholic School is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and AdvancED. Notre Dame is recognized as accredited by Texas Education Agency under Tarrant County, Diocese of Fort Worth.

In addition to the Wichita Falls Independent School District, we also have several other independent school districts in our surrounding area that offer exceptional educational opportunities for students in our region.

These school districts include Iowa Park ISD, City View ISD, Holliday ISD, Burkburnett ISD, and Henrietta ISD.

Region 9 Adult Education & Literacy Program:

Region 9 strives to support and nurture their educational communities by providing quality professional development, specialized assistance, and personalized service. Their goal is to build a foundation for student success by providing a quality support system to our schools and communities.
