Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) serves the North Texas community of Wichita Falls.

The District operates four early childhood campuses, 16 elementary campuses, three middle school campuses, three high schools, and three alternative campuses. The District also operates the Career Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility completed in 2017. Here, students are trained in one of 26 career pathways. Each provides students with a multitude of post-graduation opportunities.

WFISD enrolled approximately 14,000 students in August 2016 and is the largest public school district of the 38 located in North Texas. WFISD is accredited by the Texas Education Agency and is the largest school district operating in Region 9.

Vernon College has made great strides in enhancing processes and practices related to the student educational experience in an effort to improve retention, completion, and successful transfer. These improvements are a direct result of faculty and staff task forces that have explored best practices as well as reviewing Vernon College practices, processes, and student data.
Since the College opened its doors 38 years ago, many individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations have made an investment in our students through the creation of endowed and annual scholarships. As of this year, more than 100 scholarship funds are available to help students pursue their educational dreams.

 

Wayland Baptist University was established in 1908 by pioneer physician Dr. James Henry Wayland, who believed that education should be accessible to all and that it should be grounded in faith in Christ. Wayland is the oldest institution of higher education in continuous existence on the High Plains of Texas.

Wayland’s home campus in Plainview, Texas, a city of about 23,000, is located on the High Plains of West Texas between Lubbock and Amarillo.

Wayland also operates campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo, Wichita Falls and San Antonio, Texas; Altus, Okla.; Clovis and Albuquerque, N.M.; Phoenix and Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska; and Mililani, Hawaii. The university also offers a full degree program in Kenya, Africa, and extensive programs online.
